    NGUYEN, SAUNDERS AND PALMER POST SUMMERTIME WINS

    On June 29th, Jin Nguyen of Kansas City won the “Mozingo Melee” tournament on Mozingo Lake just outside Maryville Missouri. Nguyen’s five fish limit weighed in at 16.91 pounds. His catch also included the tourney’s big bass of 4.51 pounds.


    “I had to run around a lot, but I managed to find my limit,” said Nguyen. Second place at the event went to Mike Dugger with 16.53 pounds and Russell Matt claimed third with 16.25 pounds. Twenty-man field brought 48 fish to the scales for a total weight of 138.04.

    The 2019 Summer Sizzler has been canceled. The benefit for Children's Miracle Network will coincide with this year's Fall Classic. Proceeds from the Fall Classic will go the the CMN this year.

    Refunds for Summer Sizzler will be issued or you can keep your boat entry in for the Fall Classic. We will be contacting you shortly, if not already.

    The Board meeting on Saturday June 8th will still take place at the Methodist Church. Agenda can be found here
    The meeting will start at 9:00AM. There will not be a breakfast but Bill Lewis will be picking up pastries.

    Please bring money for the Solar Bat sunglasses that you took in April.
    We have about 150 pairs left. Blue polarized is the only size that is sold out.

    The Board of Directors has approved a MAJOR revision to the Brad Moore Scholarship qualification requirements.

    Previously the scholarship was applicable only to someone attending a college or university and majoring in a degree related to Environmental Science

    Now, any Missouri BASS Nation member or relative (children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc.) can apply for the scholarship if they are planning to further their education with any accredited school regardless of the field of study. This includes colleges universities, junior college, trade schools, etc.

    The new application is available here as well as its usual spot on the MOBASS.com webpage


    2019 Scholarship applications will only be accepted til May 15th

    Smithville Bassmasters is hosting their 3rd Annual Whole Family Care Fundraising Fishing Tournament.

    Whole Family Care is a non-profit organization that provides childcare and mentoring at no-cost to single parent families.

    Golliglee Takes Home Season Opening Win At Stockton Lake

    The Smithville Bassmasters recently held their first tournament of the year at Stockton Lake on March 23 & 24th. Out of the twenty-man field, Tim Golliglee’s two-day catch was heavy enough to claim the top prize with a winning weight of 27.82 pounds.

    “I haven’t had success on this lake since 1995,” Golliglee noted. “But I broke the drought with a 6.2 pound bass and nine of her friends. The win feels great! I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of guys to share it with.”

    The Smithville Bassmasters will host the eighth annual Daniel Palmer Memorial Classic Open Buddy Bass Tournament, Saturday September 7, 2019, at highway W boat ramp on Smithville Lake.


    This special tournament is a way for the Smithville Bassmasters to remember Army Specialist Daniel Alan Palmer, son of former club president, John Shields. It also serves as a great way to raise money to help military veterans enjoy the outdoors.

    The Smithville Bassmasters have recently announced their tournament schedule for 2019 and are looking for new members who would like to join the fishing club to experience
    the fun and fellowship of competitive bass fishing.


    “What I truly enjoy the most is going out-of-town on tournaments,” claims member, Tom Carlin. “The camaraderie of the group is great and it's my chance to just unwind from the
    challenges of life itself for a few days.”


    The club is one of the fastest growing and one of the largest bass fishing clubs in the Kansas City metro area. The Missouri BASS Nation affiliated club, gives members the opportunity to enter the MO BASS Nation State Championship tournament with a path to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic, considered the “super bowl of bass fishing”.
