WASHINGTON, DC – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced today that he will return to his home state of Colorado, having fulfilled his promise to President Obama to serve four years as Secretary. Secretary Salazar has informed President Obama that he intends to leave the Department by the end of March.

“Colorado is and will always be my home. I look forward to returning to my family and Colorado after eight years in Washington, D.C.,” said Secretary Salazar. “I am forever grateful to President Obama for his friendship in the U.S. Senate and the opportunity he gave me to serve as a member of his cabinet during this historic presidency.”

“I have had the privilege of reforming the Department of the Interior to help lead the United States in securing a new energy frontier, ushering in a conservation agenda for the 21st century, and honoring our word to the nation’s first Americans,” added Salazar. “I thank the more than 70,000 employees at the Department for their dedication to our mission as custodians of America’s natural and cultural resources. The Leavenworth Bass Club is hosting its fifth annual Fishing for Freedom (F3) event presented by The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 124 and the NECA/IBEW Power Partners at Truman Lake on 12 and 13 October 2013. Fishing for Freedom is modeled after other fishing tournaments; anglers are paired, there is a blast off at a designated start time, competitors go fishing for a certain amount of time, and at the end of the day a weigh-in is conducted to decide the winners. But that is where F3 and other bass tournament similarities end. F3 is an all volunteer event which pairs local and regional anglers with post 9/11 veterans and wounded warrior participants from all over the United States. This event is all about having a good time in the outdoors in an attempt to give back to these Heroes and show them how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice. But most of all, it’s the smiles, laughter, cherished memories, and new friendships that endure.

Mark Cowart, MOBASS Marketing Director writes...

The Missouri Bass Federation Nation is pleased to announce that Koppers Live Target Tackle Company has been selected to become the exclusive HARD BAIT Sponsor for the Missouri B.A.S.S. Federation Nation for the 2013 calendar year.

In 2007 Grant Koppers started Koppers Fishing and Tackle Corp. because of the ever increasing need to meet the needs of a changing environment for the fishermen fishing clear water. Because of the changing water clarity the World’s first anatomically accurate line of fishing lures was created and LIVE TARGET was born. From Shad to Frogs or Mice to Bluegill the realistic and accurate colors of these lures are not only beautiful but have been proven to catch fish.

Included with Kopper’s sponsorship, details are in the works to develop a program for the state tournament to provide these lures to the State Tournament Qualifiers from each team resulting in additional funding for the Regional Qualifiers for the 2014 State Team. Kopper’s will also be involved with our two open tournaments, The Spring Fling benefit tournament benefiting the Missouri Conservation Federation and the Summer Sizzler benefiting The Children’s Miracle Network. Further details to follow.
