BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The field of competitors for the 2012 Bassmaster Elite Series, announced by B.A.S.S. today, promises to be the strongest ever. Among the 100 professional anglers are winners of more than 200 Bassmaster tournaments, 17 Bassmaster Classic championships and 21 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler-of-the-Year titles.

Among the most talented anglers in bass fishing, the 100 Elite Series qualifiers will be competing for bass fishing's most coveted title — Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year — millions in prize money and berths in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic on Grand Lake, Okla., Feb. 22-24.

The Elite field includes four-time Classic champ Rick Clunn of Missouri as well as perennial qualifier Kevin VanDam of Michigan, who also has four Classic wins (including the last two) and seven Angler-of-the-Year crowns. The season kicks off March 15-18 with the St. Johns River Showdown in Palatka, Fla. The regular season will conclude with the crowning of the Angler of the Year at the Oneida Championship in Syracuse, N.Y., Aug. 23-26.

    Merry Christmas to all,

Yesterday marked the beginning of our campaign to help Don Johnson become the 2012 Budweiser Conservationist of the Year! Many of you receive CFM's monthly newsletter and by now may have already visited the CFM home page to follow the link and have voted for Don. For those of you who did not receive the monthly e-newsletter either because you have opted out of our constant contact list or because we do not yet have you listed with these contacts, please take a brief moment to cast your vote. This is one of the best opportunities to help CFM remain a leader as the Voice For Missouri Outdoors and it will only cost you a few moments of time.

Voting will only remain open until January 6 and with the Christmas and New Year's holidays mixed in we need your help sharing this with any and everyone you know who can help us spread the word regarding this opportunity. Those of you with large business and personal electronic networks, facebook pages, and email contact lists have the greatest opportunity to impact Don's chances for victory and we would ask you to share this "where permissible" multiple times over these next few busy holiday weeks so that folks don't forget to participate.

CFM would like to thank each of you in advance for your help and wish you all a very safe and happy holiday break. AND remember to VOTE for DON! www.confedmo.org

Best Wishes for a Happy and Safe Holiday Season!

The Missouri B.A.S.S. Federation Nation will be holding their 23rd Annual “Spring Fling” Open Buddy Bass Tournament on Sunday April 22, 2012. The tournament will be held again on Pomme de Terre Lake.

Last year the tournament was made a benefit tournament and proceeds were donated to the Conservation Federation of Missouri. There were 51 boats that participated and a total of $1836.00 was raised for the CFM. The winners of last year’s event were Walt Hammond of Lee’s Summit and Dan Laboube of Lake Winnebago, Mo. First Place heavy boat weight paid $1000.00, Second Place $526.00, Third Place $439.99, Fourth Place $351.00, Fifth Place $263.00 and Sixth Place $175.00. The overall Big Bass won $510.00 and was caught by Daniel Stark from Eldon Mo. and a member of the Simply Bass Club an affiliated club of the Missouri B.A.S.S. Federation Nation. Several members of MOBASS and Affiliate Members of the CFM fished the tournament.

Thanks to donations from both Bass Pro Shops and Drury Hotels 20 boats received Bass Pro Shops gift certificates of $100.00 each. Drury Hotel and Bass Pro Shops donated $1000.00 each to the event. This allowed 40% of boats entered to receive their $100 entry fee back in a Bass Pro Shops gift certificate. Along with a 60% payback to the field this tournament is one of the best values for a tournament fisherman as well as benefitting a great organization.
I am happy to announce that both companies have agreed to do the same for 2012 and the Missouri B.A.S.S. Federation Nation has made this tournament an annual benefit tournament for the CFM.

Entry forms will be available in January of 2012 and will be mailed to all participants from 2011. They will also be available on the following websites www.mobass.com , www.confedmo.org , and www.conservationcafe.com.

I hope to see everyone back from last year and would like to see a lot of new entries this coming April. The more entries will allow for better paybacks as well as raise additional money for the Conservation Federation of Missouri.
