BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — National championships for the fastest-growing youth and high school fishing circuits in the country will be held on Tennessee fisheries, B.A.S.S. announced today.

The Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Championship presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors will return to Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley at Paris, Tenn., for the sixth time, while the Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster Junior Championship for second- through eighth-grade anglers will be held on the Carroll County 1000 Acre Recreational Lake at Huntingdon, Tenn.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with B.A.S.S. and once again host the Bassmaster High School Championship at Paris Landing on beautiful Kentucky Lake,” said Tara Wilson, Assistant Director of the Henry County Tourism Authority. “Kentucky Lake is undoubtedly one of the top lakes in the country for bass fishing, and we are proud to be able to showcase this fishery and welcome all the participants to Henry County.”

As many as 275 high school teams are expected to compete Oct. 22-24 for the high school championship crown. Each two-angler team is accompanied by a coach who runs the boat and can give advice on fishing techniques and patterns.

You must communicate via e-mail to b[email protected]. Please include which specific events you wish to cancel from. When you send your email please state if both you and your partner are cancelling or just one of the team members. Requests must be made via e-mail by June 1, 2020.

The tournaments that were already on the calendar are full with waiting lists at this time. After the deadline date on June 1, 2020, for cancellations, if there are openings that cannot be filled with anglers from the waiting list these tournaments may be opened again for new registrations.

A reminder that all new registrations go on a waiting list. All entries are timestamped by the date and time you register and are first come first serve by timestamp. Anglers are entered into the event based on timestamps. It is important to register as soon as you can to give yourself the best opportunity to get accepted into a tournament. If you are accepted into an event you will receive an email letting you know.

We are working to implement practices and procedures that best have us in line with CDC and government recommendations. There will be more communications to follow.

Thanks again and we look forward to fully completing the season just a little further into the fall than expected.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — B.A.S.S. officials announced today that three tournaments originally scheduled for May would be pushed to the fall to allow states additional time to reopen and ease restrictions on large gatherings.
The Basspro.com Bassmaster Central Open at Neely Henry Lake in Gadsden, Ala., which was originally set for May 21-23, will now be held October 22-24. Instead of May 23, the one-day Huk B.A.S.S. Nation Kayak Series at Chickamauga Lake powered by TourneyX presented by Abu Garcia will be held on the Dayton, Tenn., fishery November 21. Competition in the B.A.S.S. Nation Central Regional at Toledo Bend in Many, La., scheduled for May 28-30 will now take place October 14-16.
“Our team is working diligently to ensure that we are ready to get back to the competition and fun of tournament fishing as soon as it is safe and feasible to do so,” said Bruce Akin, CEO of B.A.S.S.

Anglers, staff and sponsors from across the U.S. and several foreign countries participate in these tournaments, making it especially important to monitor both state and national guidelines on non-essential travel and border closures when finalizing event dates.
States where the events are to be held have announced different guidelines for dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak. Alabama has allowed some businesses to reopen while extending its “safer-at-home” guidelines as well as a ban on large gatherings — including sporting events — until May 15. Louisiana has extended their stay-at-home order until May 15 as efforts continue to stop the spread of the coronavirus in one of the country’s hardest-hit states.
Eleven events scheduled for April and May have had to be rescheduled. A new schedule for the remaining 2020 tournaments is expected to be released soon.

    Presidents,

We are in unprecedented, difficult, daily and/or hourly changing times. We are all “learning” as we go along. As you are aware, to this point, B.A.S.S. has postponed five (5) events including a College, Nation, Open and two Elites. We strongly encourage you to do the same with your Adult State Qualifying events, high school, college, junior and club events. Please keep in mind that as long as you have that B.A.S.S. Shield attached to your events, what you do on the state and club level reflects on B.A.S.S.

As my email last week concerning insurance stated, as long as you adhere to the requirements of the CDC, federal, state and local governments the insurance is still applicable. It’s important that all groups act in a prudent and reasonable manner.

The latest from the white house and the CDC can be found in the link below. It lists things like avoiding gatherings of 10 or more people, avoiding discretionary travel, eating at restaurants etc….

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-conten...5x11_315PM.pdf

The bottom line is we want you and your members to be safe and feel safe and not feel like they must attend to qualify for advancement. You know that anglers are going to fish if we allow them to. We/you are not going to please everyone. Make sure you are being prudent and reasonable and doing your part to stop the spread of COVID 19.

    Stay Safe!

At this time we have decided to cancel the 2020 Spring Fling as well as the April Board Meeting - for obvious (group-would-be-too-large) reasons.

All items for the April board meeting will be pushed to June.

The Smithville Bassmasters have recently announced their tournament schedule for 2020 and are looking for new members who would like to join the fishing club to experience the fun and fellowship of competitive bass fishing.

“What I truly enjoy the most is going out-of-town on tournaments,” claims member, Tom Carlin. “The camaraderie of the group is great and it's my chance to just unwind from the challenges of life itself for a few days.”
