Sportsman's Outfitter & Marine would like to announce to all Missouri BASS Federation members that we are proud to be the new Triton boats dealer for the Kansas City region.

We have a new building located at 19700 South Peculiar Drive in Belton. Many in the area are familiar with us from our years operating in Lee's Summit, we opened there in 1995 and we just moved to our new facility right on I-49 last summer. We specialize in Mercury outboards, and many of you have patronized us in the past for both sales and service, and we want to thank you for your business. If you have not done business with us before, please consider this a personal invitation to call, email, or stop by and we will do everything we can to add you to our list of satisfied customers. We carry the full line of Triton fiberglass and aluminum boats, and we also sell Premier and Palm Beach pontoon boats. You can also find a wide selection of used boats at Sportsman's, that is a huge part of our business. We offer pro staff pricing for BASS fishermen on new boats, and we welcome new applicants for Triton team pricing to those who qualify. The programs and incentives that Triton offers to fishermen are unbelievable from club level anglers to professional anglers and everyone in-between.

Please visit www.sportsmansoutfitter.com for more information, directions, and to learn more about our business. Better yet, please stop by and visit with us soon. We look forward to meeting you in person.

    State President Jim Zieger writes...

The Missouri B.A.S.S. Nation will be holding it's annual "Spring Fling" Open Buddy Bass tournament benefiting the Conservation Federation of Missouri again in 2014. Last year we had 65 boats entered and raised $2,340.00 for the CFM. The tournament has been growing every year and I would like to see 100 boats this year compete. Thank you to all that have fished in the past and I hope that everyone brings a friend and fishes with us this upcoming year.

On Saturday, September 21st, members of the Joplin Backlashers Bass Club assisted with the "Hooked on Scouting" event which took place at Kellogg Lake, in Carthage, Missouri. Nearly a hundred scouts attended the event from various troops covering the counties of Jasper, Barry, Newton, Lawrence, and McDonald Counties.

Newly recruited Cub Scouts and their families were in attendance. The boys ranged from six to nine years old. "It is important that the parents be involved as well," said Bryon Haverchik, the leader of the event. "Many of the parents will have limited fishing experience, and it is important that they understand the material because they will be the ones who take the Scouts fishing next time."

Scouts were suppose to visit six different stations. These stations included: knot tying, safety, casting, tackle, bobber presentation, and how to handle and release a fish. Once the scouts completed the stations, they were to put into practice what they had learned and go fishing. At the conclusion of the morning, Scouts that had completed all of the requirements received their "fishing belt loop".

"A good time was had by all", said Joplin Backlasher's Vice-President, Braden McBride. "It was great seeing the Scouts catch fish. That sight never gets old, and we enjoy sharing our knowledge and passion for the sport of fishing."

Events such as this have been taking place all over the region in hopes to boost membership in the Boy Scouts. One lucky participant of these events will win the opportunity to spend a weekend with professional bass fisherman, Tom Redington, at his home in Lake Fork, Texas. Redington currently volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America in his son's troop.
